Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) refers to methods for resolving disputes outside of litigation. Common forms of ADR include arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. Typically, parties first try to negotiate a resolution before resorting to other methods. Collaborative Practice: This approach allows parties to maintain control over the resolution process. They hire lawyers experienced in collaborative practice, who aim to help achieve a settlement. If a settlement isn't possible, the lawyer can assist in transitioning to another method The Arbitration Process: Arbitration is a simplified trial where an impartial arbitrator hears the arguments and issues a decision. Sessions can last from a few days to a week, and parties can agree on whether the decision will be binding.
